HORDES/WARMACHINE AT THE CLUB
During the time of Mark 1 when Hordes was just released, there was a move from the various Warhammer Fantasy Battle players over to Privateer Press' game system, initially, tempted by the fantasy-like beasts in Hordes but later Warmachine factions started to appear at the club too.
As the UK Hordes/Warmachine community started to grow and Mark 1 of this game starting to take it's grip on the wargaming community, the club became a well known force at events up and down the country. Some club members even recorded a prominent Hordes/Warmachine UK podcast - namely Boosted Damage.
HOW ACTIVE IS HORDES/WARMACHINE AT THE CLUB?
With the increase in the number of player's in the UK community, the model range from Privateer Press and the dawn of a new edition of the game (Mark 2), players were even more enthusiastic to play this newer, slicker version of the game. This game is highly competitive at the top end of tournaments and like a sport demands a high input and participation to keep up to date and be aware of what is out there to play. As the game became more competitive in an event environment, players started to experience "burn out". This happens with many game systems. There is still very much a love for the game but unlike the hey days of Mark 1 and early Mark 2, there are certainly not as many games of hordes/warmachine played at the club as they used to be. However if you do want a game, there will be players to oblige.
WHAT HORDES/WARMACHINE TERRAIN IS AVAILABLE AT THE CLUB?
As the club has grown up with the game as such, there is a good variety of terrain at the club. The club has held events at it's current venue, both traditional Steamroller events and a campaign event too! As such the club is fully equipped with chess clocks, zones, templates and terrain.
WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW?
For starters go and read the About the Club page. Then go and join the Club Facebook group and ask someone for a game or if you just want to take a look first, why not come down to the club and do just that!
